Trade financing

Financing connected to your trade

When you are financing a trade, the goods involved and the proceeds expected from their sale belong in the same conversation. White Oak's trade finance program targets self-liquidating transactions supported by the physical goods and/or receivables being financed.

In general, a self-liquidating loan is repaid with the proceeds from selling the goods acquired through the financing. This connects the financing to the trade's commercial cycle, helping you consider the funding need alongside the expected sale and payment.

For materials businesses, cash committed to inputs, production and stock can overlap with investment in processing or handling equipment. Considering materials operating cash needs alongside equipment investment helps you plan for the next order as well as the current trade.

Program parameters

Trade finance parameters

The amount, currency and expected duration of a transaction help frame the financing discussion. White Oak's Trade Finance program has the following parameters:

Financing amount
$5 million–$30 million
Transaction currency
US dollars (USD)
Duration
Short- to medium-term; typically less than one year

White Oak underwrites financings based on the underlying fundamentals of the transaction. The goods or receivables being financed and the trade they relate to provide context for that discussion. The typical duration above describes the program's focus, rather than a fixed term for every transaction.

For a business with receivables across units or locations, financing can also be considered at the portfolio level. Finacity's cross-border receivables programs bring together portfolio analysis, funding-source selection and ongoing administration, and can include funding arranged in multiple currencies.
